The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are in good spirits right now. Indeed, with Jurgen Klopp taking his side back into the top four, life amongst our resident Reds has been a happy one for a while.
After their 1-5 thumping win away at Brighton on Saturday, our local Kopites can’t stop celebrating the club’s rampant attack, one that rivals Manchester City’s and many of them believe Klopp is just a few players off taking the Reds to a title.
With that in mind, imagine how well reports from the Daily Express have gone down today. They claim the German coach is keen on bringing both a top class defender AND a new goalkeeper to Anfield over the course of the January transfer window, in order to strengthen his ranks.
Southampton star Virgil van Dijk is believed to remain of interest on Merseyside after their public summer pursuit, while a new stopper would certainly be a popular addition amongst our local Liverpudlians, considering the inconsistent form of Simon Mignolet.
Landlord’s Verdict:
If Liverpool could land major reinforcements in both defence and between the sticks, they really could make a good run for a top-four place heading into the crunch period of the campaign. It’d give the team a huge lift, both in terms of quality and psychologically.
Thoughts?
