Exclusive: Dean Windass hints at possible return to Liverpool for Raheem Sterling

Dean Windass has suggested that Raheem Sterling could make a sensational return to Liverpool this summer.

Despite his excellent form for England at the Euros, scoring three goals in five matches, Sterling’s Man City career is in doubt following a mixed campaign for the Premier League champions.

He still contributed 26 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions but lost his place in Pep Guardiola’s side towards the back end of the campaign and hardly featured in their run to the Champions League final, although he did start against Chelsea.

With that in mind, The Sun have previously reported that Sterling could be involved in part of the deal to bring Harry Kane to the Etihad, but according to ESPN, a move to Spurs won’t tempt the 26-year-old.

But when speaking exclusively to the The Transfer Tavern, Windass said that a potential move back to Anfield is a possibility:

“Could he go back to Liverpool? That would be a great fit for Liverpool – if there’s one place he’s going to go.”

Liverpool’s front-three could do with a fresh face, and it would be quite some return should Sterling end up back in Merseyside this summer.
