Exclusive: Ex-Rangers ace makes big transfer claim

Former Rangers ace Michael Ball insists that the club’s players will only earn a move away if they manage to perform in Europe.

The Scottish giants have struggled at times in Europe this season and were eliminated from the Champions League at the qualification stage.

The club were defeated by Malmo in the Champions League qualifiers, losing 4-2 on aggregate.

However, they have reached the Europa League group stages, beating Alashkert in the play-offs and have been drawn against Lyon, Sparta Prague, and Brondby.

They lost their opener against the French club, going down 2-0 at Ibrox, and Ball believes that the players need to thrive in Europe if they are to catch the attention of any potential buying clubs.

Indeed, striker Alfredo Morelos has already claimed that he would like to leave the club, having failed to win himself a move in the summer.

Ball said: “They’ve got the opportunity if they want to move on from Rangers, this is where it counts, these are the moments that people will take notice of, and the data that they look at, these big games against top quality players and teams in Europe.

“People will take it seriously over how good you are and what level you’re at.”

Rangers are next in action in Europe in Thursday against Sparta.
