Paul Stewart reckons that Liverpool have suffered without supporters inside football grounds more than anyone in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were in touching distance of winning their first Premier League title prior to the pandemic.
And whilst the Reds still managed to clinch their first league title for more than three decades, Klopp’s team started to struggle once fans were absent from stadiums.

Their poor form continued into last season, epitomised by their wretched run of home defeats when they lost five on the bounce having previously gone almost four years without losing in the league at Anfield.
Liverpool won eight games fewer at home than in their title-winning campaign, and three of their 10 Anfield victories came when a small number of supporters were allowed in stadiums, including their crucial win on the final-day against Crystal Palace which secured Champions League football once more.

A full house is set to welcome the Reds back against Burnley on Saturday week, and Stewart exclusively told The Transfer Tavern that they’ve been solely missed:
“I said quite often last season the club that suffered without fans is Liverpool. They’re like a half goal, they’re on top of you.”
