West Ham have bolstered their backline options this transfer window by bringing in Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski and Ryan Fredericks to the club.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has also looked to strengthen his attacking midfield options; however, the former Manchester City boss is yet to have any success after missing out on Javier Pastore to AS Roma, while a deal for Felipe Anderson has yet to be finalised.
But now West Ham appear to have turned their attention to getting a new centre-forward through the door. According to Sky Sports, the Hammers have launched a £27m bid for Nice’s Alassane Plea but face competition from Newcastle, Fulham and Tottenham for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Plea, who is valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, scored 20 goals last season for Nice and would give West Ham the sort of firepower that’s been absent from most of the club’s attacking players.
Pellegrini, though, will want deals for other forwards on top of Plea to be secured – understandably considering the style of football the Chilean has promised to deliver at the London Stadium – which is why it’s imperative that Anderson and players of similar ability are acquired by the West Ham hierarchy.
Take a look at West Ham fans’ thoughts on Plea’s potential arrival at the London Stadium below…
