A number of Liverpool supporters would be happy to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave the club following an update regarding his future.
The 28-year-old’s Reds career has been an interesting one, with highs and low dotted throughout. Oxlade-Chamberlain became a key figure in the second half of the 2017/18 season but he has arguably never been the same player since suffering cruciate ligament damage in that same period.

The former Arsenal midfielder has certainly chipped in positively at times, scoring 14 goals in 116 appearances, but injury problems and inconsistent form have held him back. Indeed, he came in for criticism from many Kopites for his performance in Sunday’s defeat at West Ham, when he lost the ball 13 times and failed to make much of an impact from midfield.
According to Goal‘s Neil Jones [via Anfield Edition on Twitter], ‘there has been little sign of movement‘, with regards to Oxlade-Chamberlain signing a new deal at Liverpool, adding that it may be ‘hard to see a long-term future for him on Merseyside’ if his performances don’t improve. His current contract expires in the summer of 2023.
