With Liverpool’s deal to sign Daniel Sturridge all but done and dusted, we have begun speculating here in the Football Transfer Tavern as to who may be the next to walk into Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers has openly admitted that he doesn’t expect to be spending big this January, and the £12 million forked out for Sturridge, plus a potential £6 million on Blackpool’s Thomas Ince may see a large part of his budget gone already.
This means any other arrivals may be on loan, or at a bargain price. Rodgers has stated he and his team have been working hard to identify targets for some time in a bid to avoid a repeat of the clubs catastrophic deadline day business in the summer, which saw them fail to bring in a striking replacement for Andy Carroll – something the side have been struggling with ever since.
