According to notable transfer expert Duncan Castles, this summer’s transfer window is likely to be a ‘depressed’ one compared to previous years amid the current suspension to football, largely around the world. With that in mind and the fact there’s nothing to give us a footballing fix, the Transfer Tavern are doing their best to remind their readers how some of their club’s fans reacted to the biggest signings of this season in order to focus on what’s been before us, rather than the uncertainty ahead.
Despite having signed Diogo Dalot in the summer of 2018, Manchester United weren’t content and in came Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50m. His signing was met with sheer elation from loads of Manchester United fans, who were happy to see the club sign the defender.

It would be fair to say that the England youth international has more than met the expectations which were placed upon him after his arrival. He hasn’t disappointed, averaging a colossal 3.8 tackles per league game, more than any teammate, as per WhoScored. However, the right-back also proves to be great at reading the game and has made the most interceptions per game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
Former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher sung the praises of the £36m-rated, as per Transfermarkt, player, claiming he is the ‘best one-on-one defender in world football’ after he managed to nullify Raheem Sterling during United’s 2-0 win over Manchester City earlier this month.
His development over the course of the season has been quite something. From being ‘one of the best upcoming defenders’ to becoming the best, according to Carra, it’s been a steep rise for the ace, who has more than justified both the huge outlay on him and the fans’ excitement over his arrival.
Do you think Ole Gunnar Solskjær is good enough to manage Manchester United?
