Forget Alisson: Liverpool should line up moves for 1 of these 2 goalkeepers this summer

Our Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern today are hoping that Jurgen Klopp can sort the issue at the back of the defence sooner rather than later.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been undecided all season over who should claim the number one spot in between the sticks for the Reds, the consistent chopping and changing has reverberated into the defence and it certainly shadows the manager’s thought process, so our regulars feel.

If Liverpool are to build on what they have up front, Klopp has to act on a getting a world-class goalkeeper, according to our punters in the tap room. The latest link looks like the German man is showing his hand slightly early with reports claiming that Liverpool are interested in Roma keeper, Alisson.

The Brazilian custodian is a target according to reports and would be a sound investment, while certainly levelling up from what they have now between the sticks. However, he’s bound to be expensive and could take a while to get used to life on these shores, so our landlord takes a look at two other goalkeepers Klopp should be looking at bringing in instead…

Jack Butland

The English goalkeeper has the Premier League experience which could prove vital as he will be well adjusted already. Indeed, he looks ready to make the step up from Stoke being a highly rated prospect, and a possible move has already been touted.

Butland would certainly command the area better than what they have now and is an excellent shot stopper, alongside having high concentration levels, which is needed at the top level. Klopp could really steal a march on his rivals by picking up the England international and giving him the platform he needs to progress.

Jiri Pavlenka

The Czech Republic shot-stopper is one of the Bundesliga’s top-rated goalkeepers. Indeed, he currently plays for Werder Bremen and he’s great at close distance reflex saves, keeping his side in the game when they are hit on the counter. Again, like Butland, he has high concentration levels that are needed in the top flight.

Pavlenka is still only 25 and has plenty of years left in the tank, according to our regulars, and the locals Liverpudlians would love to see him between the sticks at Anfield.
