Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Jurgen Klopp can get some major signings in the summer, in a bid to really have a go at winning the Premier League next season.

Liverpool reinforced the much-highlighted defensive issues with the capture of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the winter window, however, in the summer, Klopp must go harder in the market if he is to push on for his first trophy at Anfield.

Reports previously emerged in the pub a while ago, that Klopp is keen on reuniting Jack Wilshere with his former Arsenal teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is thriving since his move up the M6 to Liverpool. Indeed, Wilshere is out of contract in the summer after still not agreeing to a new deal with the Gunners – however, he is still keen to remain at the club he has been at since the age of nine.

Although, it must be tempting to join the Liverpool revolution under Klopp after seeing what Chamberlain has done at Anfield since moving there, and here are our landlord’s 2 reasons why he should seriously consider it…

Champions League Football

The lure of playing in the Champions League next season must be the biggest seller for Wilshere. Indeed, surely he has high hopes of cementing his spot in the England team for the near future and playing in the biggest competition of them all can only help that. The spotlight of playing among the elite would certainly help matters, as well as develop his game even further.

However, if Wenger can mastermind a Europa League win this year, then that may throw things into a different perspective.

Thrive Under Klopp

Following Chamberlain’s move to the Reds, Wilshere must surely be looking on in envy as his former teammate has gone from strength to strength under the energetic Klopp. Certainly, Wilshere would thrive under Klopp’s emphasis on moving the ball forward as quickly as possible and, may play right into the England man’s hands.

Plus with the plethora of talent Klopp has in the middle of the park, Wilshere can be managed a little more with cotton wool hands.
