Will next season finally be the season that sees Tottenham Hotspur go one better in the Premier League?

The past two seasons have seen Mauricio Pochettino’s men capitulate in the final weeks of the season, and the thought in the Transfer Tavern is that the Lilywhites could really do with winning a major trophy, just to appease this current squad of talented players that the club possess.

Preferably, this would be the Premier League but there are many Spurs fans in the Tavern that would just like a trophy to celebrate come the end of the season, and they’d love it to be the Poch who provides it for their club.

Ross Barkley has been touted as the man that Spurs are looking to bring in to make their title dreams into reality but many of the Lilywhites in the Tavern are skeptical of the move.

They believe Barkley’s indifferent performances last season spell a poor transfer target and they are outlining other players that they feel Pochettino should be targeting instead.

It is a debate that has gone on for a while in the Tavern and our landlord has taken note and listed the TWO players that the Spurs fans would like to see join their club instead of Ross Barkley.

Thomas Lemar

With arch rivals, Arsenal, the main rivals for Lemar’s signature – our resident Spurs fans are hoping that Pochettino nips in and steals the young Frenchman from under the Gunners’ noses in this transfer window.

Lemar showed real quality for Monaco last season, especially in the Champions League and our landlord feels not only will the Monaco man bring real ability to Spurs, but he will also bring the Champions League experience that the squad were found wanting last season.

Demarai Gray

If the reason for Spurs’ interest in Barkley is because he is a young English talent, then our landlord feels Poch should refocus his spending energy on Leicester’s Demarai Gray who seems to have a wonderful future ahead of him.

A star of England’s recent U21 European Championship campaign, there is little doubt among the Lilywhites in the Transfer Tavern that Gray could follow in the footsteps of a certain Dele Alli and become the light that brights up Wembley next season.
