Liverpool supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side impressively book their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League courtesy of a 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s men knew that victory in their final group match would have sealed top spot in Group E while a draw would have been enough for qualification, yet there was little doubt about the result on a great night for our resident Liverpudlians. A hat-trick from Philippe Coutinho, a brace from Sadio Mane, as well as strikes from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah secured a sensational win for the Merseyside giants, who in turn became the fourth English team to win their Champions League group this season alongside Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

Thus, there have been jubilant Reds fans in the Tavern in the last few hours, many of whom are eagerly anticipating the draw for the knockout stages on Monday, where Klopp’s men could meet the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, or Bayern Munich in the next round.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for those Liverpool fans lining up at the bar to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking Zinedine Zidane’s Real with a move for midfielder Emre Can.

The 23-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires in the summer and as of yet he has not agreed an extension, calling into question his future at the club given that, as of January 1, he can pen a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.

And the European champions are the latest club to reportedly express an interest, yet Klopp must forget Can and focus on landing one of these TWO midfielders to replace the wantaway star…

Jean Michael Seri

Jean Michael Seri has certainly proven his worth to Nice in the last 12 months or so, with his seven goals and nine assists last term helping the club to a third place finish in Ligue 1, and thus a spot in this season’s third qualifying round for the Champions League.

And although the Ivory Coast international hasn’t quite been as prolific this time round, the 26-year-old continues to impress in the centre of midfield, and as such he has reportedly attracted the attention of some Premier League heavyweights, namely Liverpool and Manchester City.

And with Klopp facing the prospect of losing Can in January, bringing Seri in will certainly go some way to minimising the likely impact of losing the German.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic made the move to Lazio back in 2015, and has since gone from strength to strength with the Serie A giants with 15 goals and 13 assists in 92 appearances for the club, of which four goals and nine assists came last term in their run to fifth place in the Italian top-flight.

And with three goals and an assist in 13 league appearances this time round, the Serbia international continues to prove his worth, and as such has attracted the interest of several English clubs, notably Klopp’s Liverpool and Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

Yet with Can’s departure becoming increasingly inevitable as time goes on, Klopp will surely be looking at midfield reinforcements in January, and Milinkovic-Savic could be the man to fill the void left by the German.
