Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Jurgen Klopp can replace the possibly departing Emre Can with an upgrade.

Jurgen Klopp this summer will have a to-do list as he aims to bring together the whole team, in a bid to bring some silverware to Anfield. Klopp must gain a quality goalkeeper as a starting point, but possibly on a par with that is bringing in a replacement midfielder for the possibly outgoing Can to Juventus.

Reports suggest that Klopp is looking at Leeds United’s former player Lewis Cook, who is impressing at Bournemouth this season under Eddie Howe. Cook recently captained the u20’s England side to World Cup victory and his stock has been on the rise ever since.

However, in the bar, there is a feeling that Klopp could look around and maybe pick up a better talent to integrate into the squad than Cook, and our landlord takes a look at two players he thinks would suit the bill…

Daniel Parejo

Valencia’s Daniel Parejo is a top-quality midfielder which would emulate Can and better. He’s scored six and assisted six so far this season, as Valencia have one of their best campaigns in a few years. He can break up the play and is not afraid of a challenge.

At 28, Parejo is at his peak in terms of his career and Liverpool could get the best years out of him. His strengths are being able to help out defensively and play a key pass to set up the attack.

Jean Michael Seri

The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international is a mainstay in the Nice team. His defensive capabilities deem him indispensable to the team and while he excels in that position, Seri can quickly turn defence into attack with his keen eye for a key pass upfield.

Although he doesn’t have the eye for goal Parejo has, he has still assisted three times this season and has played a major part in goals in general.
