Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are on the warpath once again, and the ‘Wenger out’ brigade is upping its ante. As you can imagine, our resident Gooners have been drowning their sorrows in the Tavern. 

After a very below-par in the 3-0 defeat to Man City, the pressure for Arsene Wenger to leave in the summer is increasing by the hour in the bar. With Champions League qualification only really down to if the Gunners win the Europa League, our regulars don’t hold much hope to see it back at the Emirates anytime soon.

If Le Prof fails to qualify for a second season alongside not bringing home a trophy, then surely the door has got to be his only option this summer. With that in mind, the barman has put forward a list of three alternatives for the job, after recent comments made by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry over his interest in the job should Wenger vacate the role.

Despite Henry’s legendary status in north London, the Frenchman has no experience in charge of a big club and employing him as a serious manager would be very risky indeed.

Luis Enrique

The former Barcelona boss has had a very impressive CV during his time at the Camp Nou, winning a plethora of trophies during his time there. Barcelona were largely a dominant force in La Liga and played some attractive and eye-catching football while under his watch, making him a natural fit in north London.

Our regulars feel that Enrique could be a great move for Arsenal and one that would push the team forward with his own brand of football.

Frank De Boer

Even though Frank De Boer’s reign at Crystal Palace was an uneventful and disappointing five-game spell, his time at Ajax can’t be disregarded. He tries to play a 4-3-3 formation with passing and attack the emphasis, which will suit this Arsenal side to a tee.

He would relish the chance to prove that he isn’t a flop in the Premier League, and with the right quality type of players around him, he could achieve a lot.

Laurent Blanc

Former Man United defender, Laurent Blanc has had three spells of management, enjoying some decent success along the way. Blanc started off with Bordeaux, followed by the national French team and finally, he went on to PSG, winning a lorry load of trophies during his career.

Again, he, prefers an attacking 4-3-3 formation which will suit the Gunners players and style, and with his playing career as it was, he should demand respect from the get-go.
