Rangers fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side can challenge for the title next season, after failing to produce consistent performances towards the end of the current campaign.

The Bluenoses will be pleased with how their season panned out as they now have European football to look forward to, but there will be plenty of changes made behind the scenes in the summer as the club goes on in search of even more success. Although, it’s the club’s current managerial position that has been causing a stir recently, as Graeme Murty’s future continues to be surrounded with doubt.

Surprisingly, it appears that former Ajax coach Marcel Keizer wants the Rangers job if Murty departs in the summer, after being sacked by the Amsterdam giants back in December. But, appointing the 49-year-old may not be the smartest of decisions for Rangers to make, as he doesn’t really have any standout statistics in his managerial career thus far.

So without further ado, here’s look at TWO managers that Rangers should look at instead…

Lucien Favre

The OGC Nice boss is known for playing a hugely dynamic pressing game at his current club and can provide a wealth of experience, having been on the managerial scene for a long time.

Indeed, the former FC Zurich manager won two Swiss Cups and also won Manager of the Year in the Swiss Super League two years running, before making the leap into the Bundesliga where he made Borussia Monchengladbach Champions League regulars.

Therefore, Rangers should look to bring the 60-year-old to Ibrox in the summer months, as his current club Nice have always found a way to grind out positive performances both in Europe and domestically.

Asier Garitano

Interestingly, Asier Garitano was appointed Leganes CD manager back in 2013 when they were in the third tier of Spanish football, and has since managed to take them into the Liga BBVA to challenge the big guns.

Indeed, the 48-year-old has now established Leganes as a mid-table side after being deemed not good enough by surrounding clubs, with his hard work beginning to pay off as his side are now set up perfectly.

Nevertheless, the Bluenoses should look to bring him to Glasgow in the summer months, as a manager that can ensure progression and will cure Rangers’ current defensive problems.
