Forget Lacazette – 5 alternative options West Ham must look to sign this summer

West Ham will be playing at the Olympic Stadium next season in front of 60,000 fans every other week, and our resident Hammers fans here in the Tavern are well and truly buzzing!

West Ham will be in the transfer market searching for a new star striker to take the club to the next level.

Alexandre Lacazette would of course be an excellent signing for the Hammers, however West Ham fans must not be downhearted if the transfer falls through, as there are plenty of other stars around that David Gold can bring to the Olympic Stadium next year.

The London outfit have already had a £31 million bid rejected for the Frenchman, so it maybe worth investigating alternative options this summer.

Our landlord here in the Tavern has identified FIVE forwards that could be playing up top for Slaven Bilic next year……

Christian Benteke

Perhaps not the first choice for many Hammers fans, Christian Benteke has endured a difficult season at Anfield, however there is no doubting the Belgian’s quality.

Benteke could easily grab 15-20 goals per season playing for West Ham especially as a starter, the 25-year-old has plenty of years ahead of him and definitely plenty of goals.

Mauro Icardi

Mauro Icardi

Icardi, is perhaps similar to Lacazette, however the Argentina internationally want to leave the San Siro after Inter Milan finished 4th in the league.

Icardi, himself, scored 16 goals and claimed 4 assists but the his side finished trophyless, yet again and Icardi may want a new challenge.

At just 23 years old, Icardi could be an incredible signing for the Hammers.

Breel Embolo

Embolo has made a huge name for himself in recent years.

The Swiss youngster has been on fire and scoring goals for fun in the Swiss Super League and is great assist maker too.

At just 19 years old, Embolo has been capped by his national side nine times.

Embolo wouldn’t come cheap, but has more potential than Lacazette and would be around for years.

Theo Walcott

Yet another player who didn’t quite have the season that they would have liked.

Theo Walcott has been trying to live up to his potential for over 10 years now, and even though he didn’t make England’s Euro 2016 squad, there is no denying the quality that Walcott possesses.

The 26-year-old is incredibly quick and is capable of scoring 15-20 goals per season.

West Ham would surely only have to bid around £20 million to lure Walcott away from Arsenal.

Callum Wilson

Last but certainly not least, Callum Wilson.

The Bournemouth striker was incredibly unlucky with injury this year and didn’t manage to show what he is capable of, but in the few games that the English striker played in, he was a real threat, Wilson even scored a hat-trick against West Ham early in the season.

West Ham have reportedly bid for the striker already but were unsuccessful, the 24-year-could yet join the Hammers, there’s a long summer ahead, and we will see who Bilic wants to lead the line next year.
