Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are in a huge debate with many in disagreement over the potential new contract for Jose Mourinho.

With reports flying around over a new contract extension for current manager Mourinho, many of the local Mancs in the bar are in split groups over whether the board would be better off looking elsewhere than extending the Portuguese current stay beyond 2019.

Although United have had a successful season last season winning two major trophies and currently are having their best Premier League campaign since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, the other side of the argument is to keep the man in charge to gain continuity and try to give the Red Devils some identity.

So, with all that in mind our landlord takes a look at two other world-class managers that could take over the reigns at Old Trafford and start to move the club forward…

Luis Enrique

The former Barcelona man is still looking for his next job after completing three very successful years at the Camp Nou, winning the treble in his first season and the double in the next. Having previously had a spell at Roma and Celta Vigo, the Spanish man could lean on his experience for the adjustments to a new league.

With his great Barcelona background, he would come with the same attacking style of play that the Old Trafford faithful have been wanting ever since Fergie retired.

Laurent Blanc

Former United defender Blanc has had a rich manager history in his short career, with him managing both the French national team and France’s number one team Paris St Germain and being successful, this vital experience could prove to be a key factor in bringing him to Old Trafford.

With the defender also winning the Premier League with the Red Devils, he’ll have that much-needed know-how to win trophies according to our glass collector in the bar.
