Our Liverpool fans here inside the Transfer Tavern will be hoping that Jurgen Klopp tries to reinvigorate the squad, as they bid to clinch a top-four spot come the end of the season. Indeed, our resident Reds know just how important it is they make the Champions League next season. 

The Liverpool boss has some decisions to make this transfer window as some of his squad look to make a move in search of some first-team action in the second half of the season. Among them is Daniel Sturridge who wants to ensure he has a place on the plane to Russia in summer, so is open to moving away from Anfield.

Some of our punters have been discussing other possible departures, ones that could allow more funds and space in the squad for some fresh faces coming in. With a litter of deadwood and fringe players not making the cut, Klopp could really do with being a little ruthless over the next few weeks.

Dejan Lovren

With the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk this window, it seems that Lovren may be the one to be dropped down the pecking order. Having largely been unimpressive at the start of the season, this only increased Klopp’s demand for a centre-back even more.

Lovren alongside Matip, barring injuries, has been ever-present in the Liverpool team this season but are wildly open and prone to making silly mistakes. Hence the reason VVD coming to the club was so important this window.

Now the £75m man is at Anfield, Lovren may be cut adrift.

Danny Ings

Although Klopp seems to want to keep Sturridge unless the right money bid comes in, Ings’ time at Liverpool seems to be over. Having not really made much of an impact due to a plethora of injuries, Ings’ dream move to Liverpool has turned into a nightmare.

However, surely Ings will be eager to move as he drops down the pecking order, with young England star Solanke edging him out further.
