Fulham eyeing move for “brilliant” Premier League defender loved by Jamie Carragher

Fulham enjoyed a largely positive 2024/25 campaign, finishing 11th in the Premier League and reaching the FA Cup quarterfinals.
In truth, the Cottagers looked set for an even higher finish earlier in the season, impressing with their high-intensity, attacking style. But a late-season dip in form—largely due to a lack of squad depth—ultimately cost them a place in the top half.
Now, with European qualification a realistic goal for next season, Fulham will need reinforcements—particularly on a tight budget. That likely means smart business in the free agent market.
One player believed to be on their radar is Kyle Walker-Peters. The 27-year-old is still at Southampton for now, but will become a free agent at the end of June. Despite the Saints’ humiliating relegation last season, Walker-Peters stood out and is widely expected to return to the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports, Fulham are “expected to open talks with his representatives” in the near future. He would offer immediate competition to Kenny Tete at right-back and bring much-needed depth to the squad.

Fulham are also reportedly interested in another experienced right-back: Vladimír Coufal, who is also set to become a free agent this summer after West Ham United opted not to renew his contract.
Football Insider claims that Fulham are one of several clubs, alongside Everton, interested in keeping the Czech international in the Premier League, where he has proven his quality since joining West Ham from Slavia Prague in 2020.
Coufal has made 180 appearances for the Hammers and played a key role in their 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League triumph. Known for his consistency and work ethic, he’s long been admired by pundits.
“I love Coufal, I love him! He plays week-in, week-out, he’s maybe not the most eye-catching going forward, but I just think he’s been brilliant,” said Jamie Carragher in 2021.
Whether it’s the athleticism of Walker-Peters or the reliability of Coufal, either signing would represent a smart move for a Fulham side eager to take the next step.
