Metro have confused Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they have claimed that the club are being sent mixed messages by one of their top targets.
We have long linked Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos with a move to the Red Devils and initially thought that it may well be the case that he moved in the winter.
Then we heard reports that the player was just playing hard ball over a new contract with Bayern Munich, and wanted better terms – hence the flirtation with United.
Now however, it seems that a move is still interesting to Kroos, yet his current club Bayern Munich have made it clear that they will not be forced into selling one of their top players.
In what seems like a warning to the player, honorary president Franz Beckenbauer claimed to Sky: “You have to make a decision as a club when someone’s demands are going through the roof. There is not a single player who’s worth changing your entire wage structure for.
“Nobody is indispensable. If the player wants to stay at Bayern, I can only advise him not to overplay his hand.”
Will United manage to land the player or is Kroos just trying to play hard ball with Bayern? Let us know your thoughts below.
