Lots of Liverpool fans begged the club to give midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum a new contract after the Dutchman opened up on his current situation.
In what was a spiky response, the 30-year-old told Het Parool (via Sport Witness) that he could not comment on whether there was talk of a new contract or not, adding more questions to Wijnaldum’s already uncertain future with his deal due to expire next summer.

The Dutchman embedded himself into Anfield folklore after coming off the bench and scoring a brace as Liverpool knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League in 2019, on their way to lifting their sixth crown in Madrid.
Wijnaldum has made 199 appearances for the Merseysiders and clocked up over 15,000 minutes, scoring 19 goals and providing 16 assists since his £25m move from Newcastle United in 2016 (via TransferMarkt).

With this in mind, supporters were desperate to see Wijnaldum commit his future to Anfield, as one fan even said they believe he is ‘better’ than skipper Jordan Henderson.
