Glasgow Rangers: Fans bemoan Kemar Roofe injury update

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have been lamenting an update from Steven Gerrard on the recent injury sustained by Kemar Roofe.

The 27-year-old limped out of Thursday’s win over Lincoln Red Imps with a calf injury and missed yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Hibernian. After the game at Easter Road, Gerrard told Rangers TV that the striker has had to go for a scan and will be “missing in the short-term”.

Roofe, who was signed from Anderlecht at the beginning of August, has unfortunately had a track record of lengthy injuries over the last couple of years and those troubles appear to have flared up again. His Ibrox career had gotten off to a decent start, with two goals in his first six games.

His injury absence could heighten the Light Blues’ dependence on Alfredo Morelos, who struck 29 goals last season and already has five in seven games this term amid ongoing transfer speculation which has seen him being the subject of a fresh £20m offer from Lille.

These ‘Gers fans on Twitter are left frustrated by Roofe’s injury, with one describing it as a “big concern” and another insisting that they “can’t sell Morelos” as a result, while others questioned the logic of signing him given his unenviable injury record in recent years:
