Bayer Leverkusen may have eliminated their club from the Europa League but many Glasgow Rangers fans have magnanimously expressed their best wishes to the Bundesliga outfit for the remainder of the tournament.
Peter Bosz’s side defeated the ‘Gers 1-0 in the second leg of their last 16 tie yesterday evening to complete a 4-1 aggregate victory and, considering that the home side had 15 shots to the Light Blues’ four, it would be fair to say that their win was deserved and they now play Inter Milan in the quarter-finals on Monday, as per @bayer04_en.

Despite the disappointment of seeing their European involvement come to an end, Steven Gerrard and his squad can take pride in taking the ‘Gers to their best placing in a continental competition since 2011, with their run to the last 16 helping to boost Scotland’s UEFA coefficient enough to earn the nation a second Champions League berth from next season.

Many ‘Gers fans had already praised Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes after he recently spoke highly of the atmosphere at Ibrox in the first leg and, having seen their team outclassed by the German side, these supporters of the Glasgow club took to Twitter to wish their “very classy” Bundesliga counterparts well for the rest of the Europa League:
