The Manchester United fans have just arrived in the Transfer Tavern and are thrilled with their latest signing Nemanja Matic.

Jose Mourinho is beginning to assemble a squad which some are considering capable of challenging for the league title this season.

The Portuguese boss has a track record of prospering in his second season with a club and United fans expect this campaign to be no different.

£40m Matic will bring some solidarity to the United side. The Serb had a mediocre season for Chelsea last term, but remains a calming influence for any midfield.

As for further recruits, the Red Devils still need to invest in a winger. Inter’s Ivan Perisic is being heavily tipped (ESPN via The Daily Star) for a move to Old Trafford while rumours of United chasing Eric Dier have been quashed (Metro.)

But it’s these TWO players who the English giants need to sign before the opening day of the season…

OUSMANE DEMBELE

It’s Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele who fuels more excitement than Perisic. The winger has been the subject of much talk here in the Transfer Tavern and our local United punters would love to have in their team.

Indeed, most punters by the bar seem to be keen on the man who scored 6 and assisted 12 in the Bundesliga last season.

SERGE AURIER

The PSG full-back has had a troubled time in France off the field, but it a consistent performer on the pitch for the French club.

The Ivorian could be seen as a man to step up competition for Antonio Valencia which would be some feat as many United fans have been enamoured with the way the former Wigan man has adapted to becoming a full-back.
