Jurgen Klopp has, to some extent, endured a torrid transfer window with very little in terms of improvements to come. So, Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are disgusted with how the board have dealt with certain players.
Firstly, the approach for defender Virgil van Dijk was poorly handled and has left a relatively weak area of the squad fragile, which could be the Reds’ downfall if they don’t improve it, by signings or in training.
As well as that, the whole Philippe Coutinho fiasco hasn’t helped the cause and the tavern’s bar man thinks the last few weeks could wholeheartedly effect the entire campaign for the Reds.
Conceding goals is seemingly the biggest issue that Klopp needs to address, however, I personally can’t see it happening myself and will be forced to use the players already at his disposal.
So here are TWO first-team outcasts that Liverpool must simply give a chance to for them to improve the team and allows them the opportunity to shine….
Marko Grujic
When Marko Grujic was originally signed by the Merseyside outfit, supporters in the Tavern were expecting him to have an instant impact on the team’s midfield, however, he has very rarely been given the chance.
The 21-year-old has been lingering in the fringes of Liverpool’s squad for the last twelve months and has enjoyed very little game time, something that urgently needs to change in the coming weeks and months.
Grujic is primarily an attacking midfielder but he can undeniably help out on the defensive duties, which is a part of the game Jurgen Klopp has to improve imminently.
Jon Flanagan
Whilst Alberto Moreno has been given the chance to re-gain Klopp’s trust, the Spaniard’s flaws are still apparent and that has to be changed as soon as possible if Liverpool want to succeed in Europe and the Premier League.
The Transfer Tavern’s landlord has been left pondering with what’s happened to Jon Flanagan; once an exciting talent in the ranks, to not even making the substitutes’ bench now.
He very much deserves the opportunity to shine, if nothing less, and may benefit the frail Liverpool back line – in either full-back roles – and that is an integral attribute to have in a versatile defender.
