Glasgow Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has said that despite he and his brother Derek playing for the Gers, his nephew Lewis could well line-up for Celtic.
Ferguson is, undoubtedly from his playing days, a hero at Ibrox. He won five Premiership titles, five Scottish Cups and five Scottish League Cups during his time at the club, which takes some doing. However, since he has retired, his statements mean he is perhaps not quite as popular as he once was amongst portions of the club’s fanbase.

His latest comments may not go down well, either. Talking to Go Radio (via The Scottish Sun), Ferguson said:
“Lewis is his own guy, he’d make his own decision.
“I don’t think it would be a factor in Lewis making that decision that his dad and his uncle played for Rangers.
“He’s got a good head on his shoulders and I don’t think that would worry him.
“Whether Celtic are interested in him, I don’t know, I know there’s been a lot of talk about Celtic and Rangers.
“If I’m being honest, I do think he’s good enough to play for both of those teams.”
It would be a bitter blow for the 54-time Scottish champions if the £1.35m-valued 21-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – did end up playing for the Bhoys – he was let go by the Gers as a youngster, and given Barry’s connections to the side, they would have hoped to be the first option for one of the most promising talents in Scottish football.

However, at the end of the day, he is his own man, and that previous Gers release could well play on his mind. For now, though, he is still an Aberdeen player.
