Glasgow Rangers: Fans react to shortened 2020/21 Championship season

As Glasgow Rangers and the rest of Scottish football found out on Monday, the proposed reconstruction of the country’s leading divisions will not proceed.

Hearts owner Ann Budge had been pushing for a change to the structure of the league system in Scotland and a 14-10-10-10 system had been proposed that would have seen two clubs join League Two. However, ultimately only 16 clubs felt that a change was in the game’s best interests.

As such, the Jam Tarts will be relegated to the Championship and, on Sunday, it was revealed that the clubs already in that division have decided to play only 27 games next season rather than the usual 36 – the league is set to recommence in October.
