It was a good day at the office for Glasgow Rangers on Sunday against St Mirren.
The ‘Gers came into this game off the back of a 1-0 win against Aberdeen in their first match of the season and a 1-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie. However, there was no hangover from that European defeat, with the Ibrox outfit prevailing 3-0 against the Buddies.

Star striker Alfredo Morelos had a big part to play in the final outcome, scoring twice after an own goal had given the 54-time Scottish champions the lead. However, that still didn’t seem to stop journalist Robert Grieve taking a pop at him in his match report for The Scottish Sun, calling him a “squealing striker” and saying that he conned the referee.

This caught the attention of many ‘Gers supporters and it is fair to say that they were far from happy with Grieve’s choice of words – one fan even said it was “bizarre reporting”. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below:

Imagine them writing it negatively about anything to do with that club?
But in all seriousness, that’s just a bitter take. You start using words like that then you have an underlining hatred and not a professional stance

Disgraceful – imagine them writing that about Edouard? Me neither.

Well it was definitely not how it came across, the language used to describe Morelos in a paragraph to summarise the ref’s performance is questionable to say the least. For folk who won’t see the foul it definitely creates a narrative.

Absolutely! We know what he meant. Ridiculous reporting

Absolutely no idea why anyone would question your objectivity with “squealing striker.”
Hopefully it’s not too long before your rag loses their press passes, pal.
