The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting sick and tired of waiting around for news on Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian winger was set to make the switch from Leicester to Manchester in a deal that included Patrick Roberts moving the other way. Now, though, Leicester’s move from James Maddison means they no longer want Roberts, according to The Daily Mirror,.

Riyad Mahrez has been a long-term target of Pep Guardiola at City. The Leicester winger almost signed back in January for a fee of around £75 million, although City pulled the plug on a potential deal on transfer deadline day. However, reports in recent weeks have strongly suggested that the club have reignited their interest in the 2015/16 Premier League Player of the Season.
It seems that Guardiola is not going to have it all his own way in the transfer market as Leicester City are proving to be tough negotiators and, with the makeweight Patrick Roberts now presumably off the table, Manchester City will be faced with the decision of either throwing more money into the deal or ending their interest.
In response to reports, the Citizens faithful have turned out in their numbers on Twitter to call for their club to focus on alternative targets, with the likes of Eden Hazard and World Cup sensation Hirving Lozano both getting a worthy mention.

Maddison & Roberts play in totally different areas of the pitch so why wouldn’t Leicester still need a goal scoring winger. Maddison more of a replacement for Drinkwater

Walk away. He is not a 70 million pound player! I would rather go for someone else.

As you can see, the City fans propping up our bar wouldn’t be too fussed if they missed out on Mahrez as they believe there are much better options available to pursue.
