Things have taken somewhat of a turn for the worse under Jurgen Klopp this season at Liverpool, and after a positive start they have seen their title challenge fall away.

The German manager is struggling to get a back four together on a weekly basis, and the troubles surrounding Daniel Sturridge up top have not helped either.

The Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that this summer will finally see Klopp address some of the more serious issues in the squad.

Virgil Van Dijk

The Southampton defender has turned into one of the best performers in the Premier League, and he will no doubt be the subject of plenty of interest in the summer.

The big Dutch defender is a class act, and with Liverpool desperate for defensive reinforcements, Van Dijk fits the bill perfectly.

It would be a big statement from the the Reds if they were able to lure yet another Southampton man to the club.

Marcel Schmelzer

Klopp is likely to be in the market for a left back given he has made do with James Milner for much of this season, and he could turn to his old Dortmund left back Marcel Schmelzer.

The German has bags of experience and is a class act, and would fit the bill perfectly for Liverpool at the moment.

Dortmund are unlikely to want Schmelzer to leave, but with Klopp in the market for defenders, he could be tempted to go all out to get his man.
