Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to hunt down their fierce rivals Man United into second place this season.

Liverpool have had an indifferent season so far, despite some wonderful wins. They can go from looking like true title contenders to looking like strangers within one match, as was evident in their Champions League meeting with Sevilla earlier in the campaign.

Still, the purchase of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the winter window should bring some much needed defensive stability to the team. However, there are still a few areas to cover and strengthen if the Reds really want to be up their with the elite in the Premier League.

A few players this season, have had their career’s tarnished with their own performances and that of the Jurgen Klopp’s mismanagement. With that in mind, our landlord delves a little deeper into TWO Liverpool players who he feels needs to move on and get out while they can…

Simon Mignolet

The goalkeeper has been in the middle of a No.1 tug of war this season, with Klopp not settling for a permanent fixture between the sticks. Mignolet’s reputation and career are being severely damaged by this indecisive action, and making the Belgian international seem as he’s turned into a terrible keeper.

Even though he is mistake prone, the lack of confidence and constant chopping and changing around would have played a huge factor this season. Could certainly do with a change of scenery.

Jordan Henderson

England midfielder and club captain is having an indifferent season of his own. Many of the regulars at times have been on his back about his style of play, although sometimes he can show what a quality player he can be for the club.

If Henderson wants to progress, it seems a move away from the Anfield spotlight may be the smartest move for his career at this moment in time with Klopp looking at possibly changing direction in terms of team selection. Clearly a helpful player at times, being the man to replace Steven Gerrard as captain of Liverpool was never going to be easy.
