The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were pleased with their side’s January business. The capture of Virgil van Dijk had long been expected amongst our resident Reds, but there is no denying that he is just what Jurgen Klopp needed.
Liverpool’s transfer business has been pretty good over the last season or two, with Jurgen Klopp able to land some of Europe’s best and most promising players. Mohamed Salah, in particular, has been a real highlight, and according to the Sun, another exciting attacking player could be on course to move to Anfield.
A 22-year-old attacker, Pinchi typically plays out wide. Making use of his solid pace and technique, the Spaniard is a real threat going forward – and so a move does make a decent amount of sense. The Reds aren’t blessed with too much depth in this role, and so he’d likely become a rotational option if he does come in.
A move to Anfield would certainly be a big step up for him – but he might be just what the Reds need. Not to mention, the lack of a transfer fee means that Klopp has little to lose, given that only a small compensation fee would be required – marking this out as a bargain.
In truth, our resident Reds are liking the sound of the deal simply because they would love to get one up on Man Utd!
Landlord’s Verdict
Beyond the deadly trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Klopp has little depth.
Sure, Pinchi isn’t quite on their level, but Klopp has proven over the last few years that he is an expert at bringing players to the next level.
A move makes sense, especially on the cheap.
