The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the idea that Naby Keita, the RB Leipzig midfielder who’ll be joining the club this summer after agreeing to a deal last year, will wear the number 8 jersey at Liverpool. The 23-year-old Guinean international is to become the first player to wear Liverpool’s number eight shirt since Steven Gerrard left the club after the 2014/15 season.
Guess that’s Naby Keita as no.8 confirmed!

The Liverpool fans propping our bar up will be feeling both excited and nostalgic as they see a new midfield man run out onto Anfield wearing the number eight, although, given his performances in the Bundesliga, it shouldn’t be a problem for Keita. Jurgen Klopp signed the player last summer but the only way the Reds could ensure they got their man was to sign him on a pre-agreement, meaning he stayed for one more year with Leipzig before making the move to Merseyside.
Naby Keita will be joining the club with a number of fans never having seen him play. This shouldn’t be a problem for the 23-year-old as his reputation alone has won him plaudits and it’s just a matter of time before he’s out on the green in Liverpool, trying to fill the boots of the club’s las number eight. The Guinean is also no stranger to a big game, just last month the midfielder scored one and assisted another ina 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, inflicting the Munich giants with just their third Bundesliga loss of the season.
