West Ham United: Fans react to latest injury news as Raheem Sterling ruled out of clash against the Hammers

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has been ruled out of their Premier League clash against West Ham United on Sunday.

The England international picked up a hamstring injury in City’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and the club confirmed on their official Twitter account that he will not be ready to face the Hammers.

Whilst this is a definite blow to Pep Guardiola, it is something of a positive for West Ham as Sterling is one of the Premier League champions’ most dangerous players. Indeed, he has scored 20 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt) and so him not being available could weaken them slightly.

David Moyes’ side are currently scrapping to avoid relegation from the Premier League having slipped into the bottom three last weekend (BBC Sport), so they will be desperate to get a result at the Etihad and this news may slightly improve their chances of doing so.

However, perhaps due to City’s ridiculous strength in depth, it seems that most Hammers fans do not think that Sterling’s absence will make much of a difference. Indeed, many are still expecting to be firmly beaten by the champions, who will be able to call on the likes of Bernardo Silva or Gabriel Jesus to replace Sterling.

Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…
