The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been saying their farewells to the club’s young striker, Joe Dodoo, who is set to leave Ibrox for Bloomfield Road on a season-long loan. The young striker who came through Leicester City’s youth academy joined the Gers two years ago and this loan will be the second of his Ibrox career. Fans can read more on Dodoo’s move on the Rangers website.

Dodoo has got all of the attributes needed to survive as a striker in Scottish football. The youngster is fast, strong and has an eye for goal, however, at the age of just 22, he’s too raw to be considered as a consistent first-team option for Steven Gerrard. The loan option is perfect though, the striker gets to experience lower league football in the English leagues and try and build up some goalscoring experience.
The ex-Leicester man spent the first half of last season on-loan to Charlton Atheltic and although he failed to make a name for himself at The Valley, the experience will be invaluable as he travels back to League One to have another pop with Blackpool. Our local Gers will be hoping the young striker comes back as a more complete player as they look to the future.

Our local Rangers fans should be optimistic over Dodoo, the striker’s loan can only be a good thing and whilst he’s not good enough to start for Gerrard, getting him off the wage bill on loan can only be positive.
