It’s been mentioned many times around these here parts that when it comes to their forwards, Tottenham Hotspur are in need of a rejig this summer.
Despite costing a combined £39million, Spurs triumvirate of profligate strikers ruling the forward line, Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko have managed a wholly unimpressive 11 goals between them (with the Russian, Pavlyuchenko scoring 7 of those) in the Premier League this season.
Defoe, to be fair, has been injured for a large part of the season, but since returning to the team, he has scored 2 (brilliant but sadly isolated) Premier League goals, against Wolves. While Crouch has helped out here and there, particularly with assists for Van der Vaart, and has been on fire in the Champions League, his return of 2 goals from 26 games in the league is poor by anyone’s standards. And poor old Roman Pavlyuchenko, who so often is lacking in all areas and then suddenly smacks in a sweet finish (e.g. his goal against Chelsea), is the only one to have anything like a reasonable return, with 7 goals in 21 games.
We have, it seems, a problem. But if we are to solve our goal-scoring conundrum, who should Harry Redknapp bring in this summer? There are many names in the frame, some are likely, others not, and all with their own individual pros and cons.Well, here’s your chance to cast your vote… which striker do YOU think Tottenham should sign in the summer transfer window ?
Ruud van Nistelrooy – 34- Hamburg
Edinson Cavani – 24 – Palermo (on loan at Napoli)
Mario Gomes – 25 – Bayern Munich
Sergio Aguero – 22 – Atletico Madrid
Asamoah Gyan – 25 – Sunderland
Fernando Llorente – 26 – Athletic Bilbao
Karim Benzema – 23 – Real Madrid
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar – 27 – Schalke 04
Giuseppe Rossi – 24 – Villarreal
Diego Forlan – 31 – Atletico Madrid
None – give youth-teamers, Mason, Kane and Obika a chance
None – stick with Crouch, Defoe and Pavlyuchenko

Options should include Crouch, Pav and Defoe listed separately- so that we could select one or two of them beside choosing one or teo others.
Nilmar for me but strangely not on the choices
How about hulk and falcao from Porto? Those two are a lethal combo. But if I had to pick from that list I’d go cavani and aguerro.
You need to learn a few facts before you condemn our strikers about there scoring in the frenetic premiership. Firstly Lets look at Pavlyuchenko he still has problems with the language he he has started a handful of games and if we failed to win or he never scored he was dropped his Confidants is low also he has missed Huddlestone’s creativity Suffering from rotation sickness. Defoe he started to suffer last year with Hamstring problems but because of our runn in and the World Cup plane ticket looming he kept it under wraps and he lost is explosive form by not fully extending his stride and he made the plane ad the rest his History he rested during pre season and came back ready to rumble then disaster he got a long injury 3 months but Defoe made that 2 months. The trouble trying to get fit when Spurs had signed the last min dot com Van Der Vaart who who could not miss with a constant supply from Crouch was going to be very hard and so it has proved to be. He finally delivered the goods and his reward was the bench for one of the best nights of our season the team got a 0-0 et we couldn’t get three points against Wolves to help Defoe get us the three points his goals deserved.Suffering from rotation sickness missing Huddlestone and rock bottom depresion from family deaths lack of fans adulation and Vans formation 541. Crouch is suffering from Teams using Top up Tempo to lose weight if you believe the latest offender it make a change from a cold. What this Tempo means by the time he gets those long legs in gear they are swarming all over him e has found fame in the slower better policed Champions league. Suffering from desperate and very long relegation battle fuelled by weight loss substances something he cant use without disappearing up his own arse also missing Huddlestone. This is my take on why our strikers are firing blanks. Huddlestone. Rotation sickness. and teams Topping Tempo like Toure Paddy Kenny both defenders the one thing stopping us scoring latly i wonder why.The brutal truth is this buying new strikers cost money and unless the FA ban Toure for 2 years this cheating will carry on and block saves will keep Defoe Pav and Crouch and any other strikers we by unless we join in but to do this we will have to leave the champs league and there testing. I hope this helps you think twice about wasting money .
lukaku wickham and bring in ruud for experiance keep defoe for the natural goals, lukaku and wickham are excelent prospect and lukakus build that could be a deadly strike force are midfeild is 1 of the best around and a solid right back and back up left back i see us pushing for alot more then top 4
aguero is to short,we need a big strong forward ..benzema,llorente,lukaku . flog crouchie and pav and get two of the above, vdv behind any of them would be frightening
You\’re not wrong. Formation and huddledtone/modric combo is sorely missed by the forwards. The Spurs eb and flow. One year loads of goals and shit at the back. Then no goal while our defence is the most changed back for in the history of man.
Bring in Gyan, his ability to play up front on his own has been tremendous this year. Specially against us. And to play with/and off him bring Aguero in. Sell Pav and keep JD and Crouchy. JD has the ability to be a super sub and Crouchy offers a great defensive alternative in our own box when we are trying to close a game.
We should have gotten Castaignos, but as ever we’re chasing guys like Rossi, Llorente, Aguero, Benzema. They’ll all move in the summer, just not to us. Same for Lukaku. Harry wants Forlan and I would not be shocked if RVN came as well, both on too high of wages and too long of term. They will stunt our growth. My solution would be Gervinho and Gameiro adding also Marin and Perisic. Sell Defoe, keane, and Crouch unless we qualify for CL. Also out the door would be GDS, Bentley, Palacios, Jenas, Kranjcar, Hutton. Wouldn’t cost us anything and we’d be much more talented and Harry would then have to choose strikers based on form and not because he likes them. COYS
Harry Kane, Pavlyuchenko, and Benzema!
Worth a shot, Harry Kane for definite.
