Wolverhampton Wanderers fans here in the Tavern are praying for a new central defender this summer. Indeed, Wolves are in desperate need of a quality central defender as they prepare for the challenges of the Premier League, with Danny Batth and Roderick Miranda less than capable.
The Midlands club have already spent big this summer by bringing a few of their loan stars in on permanent deals. However, the hard work won’t stop there as Nuno Espirito Santo has his eyes set firmly on a successful campaign next time around, with Leicester City’s Harry Maguire possibly taking Wolves’ defence to the next level.
Maguire earned a place on the plane to Russia this summer after an incredible season at the King Power Stadium, with many of our local residents wanting a deal done in quick time. Surprisingly, the central defender can also have an impact in the final third, with two goals and four assists to his name in the campaign just gone.
Indeed, the Englishman is a solid central defender that very rarely makes any mistakes. Maguire would fit perfectly into Wolves’ passing style of play as a calm and collected player that loves to keep the ball on the ground and fizzes passes about. And, having taken his career to the next level as an international regular, it may not be long until he establishes himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
Encouragingly, Wolves would be sure to enjoy a successful return to the top-flight with Maguire in their ranks, as a defensive line that involves Conor Coady, Willy Boly and Maguire would terrify any attack.
