Crystal Palace supporters have been reasonably satisfied in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side edge a point closer to Premier League safety courtesy of a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Newcastle United on Sunday.
Roy Hodgson’s men went into their clash with the Magpies off the back of drawing 1-1 with London rivals West Ham in midweek, a result which saw them steady the ship following their 4-1 hammering at Arsenal in their preceding encounter. And the Eagles moved another point closer to preserving their top-flight status as a Luka Milivojevic penalty ten minutes into the second half cancelled out Mo Diame’s opener for Rafa Benitez’s Magpies, thus keeping Palace two points clear of their opponents in the Premier League table.
Consequently, there have been many satisfied Eagles fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping their team can build upon back-to-back draws by going one better and beating Sam Allardyce’s Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.
In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Palace supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that Wilfried Zaha may not be out for as long as first feared.
The 25-year-old injured his knee against Newcastle on Sunday and reports at the start of the week suggested that he could miss the rest of the campaign, much to the anger and frustration of many of those Eagles fans lining up at the bar.
Yet recent reports suggest that the Ivory Coast international may not be out for as long as expected, perhaps returning to the side at the end of March, in news which has stimulated quite a response from many Palace fans on Twitter, some of which were thrilled with the journalist for his update…
