The Gers still remain without a manager over a month on from Pedro Caixinha’s sacking, yet interim boss Graeme Murty has done a fine job steadying the ship at Ibrox after a stuttering start to the campaign. And the former Reading and Southampton defender has recorded two big victories to help the Scottish giants move up to second in the table, with his side beating the Dons 3-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday night, before backing that up with an equally impressive 2-1 win at Pittodrie on Saturday with goals from Danny Wilson and Josh Windass enough to seal a ninth league victory of the season.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted Gers fans in the Tavern recently, albeit the ongoing search for a new manager is beginning to frustrate several of them, and as such they may be intrigued by a recent report from The Scottish Sun, which outlines a huge development in their pursuit of a new manager, namely Aberdeen’s Derek McInnes.
The 46-year-old has been one of the bookies’ favourites for the role ever since Caixinha was relieved of his duties back on October 26, although he last week confirmed that he would remain as Aberdeen chief in what looked like a bitter blow to Rangers’ chances.
However, reports suggest that the Gers will indeed make a move for the former midfielder in the coming hours, although it could reportedly set them back £1 million in compensation if they are to lure him away from Pittodrie.
But after a month of intense speculation, Rangers fans may well be thrilled to see some movement on the managerial front.
