“I’d volunteer to go through severe hypnosis” - Liverpool fans erupt amid news of potential summer arrival

Liverpool patrons in the Transfer Tavern are raising their ales and pondering what Jurgen Klopp’s side might look like with a Barcelona star at the heart of midfield.

And it’s not just wishful thinking from our Reds drinkers; Spanish publication Don Balon claim the Merseysiders could be offered midfielder Ivan Rakitic this summer in a swap deal that would see Philippe Coutinho move the other way.

No doubt, the majority of Liverpool fans will be disappointed to see Coutinho leave, having established himself as arguably the most talented member of the starting XI since arriving from Inter Milan in January 2013.

But Rakitic is a fantastic talent in his own right, having been a key part of the Barca side that lifted the Champions League title in 2014/15 and having twice claimed a slot in the illustrious La Liga Team of the Season.

And it seems most – but not all – Liverpool fans on Twitter would be more than happy to sanction the deal, should Don Balon’s report prove accurate come the summer. Here’s a look at some of the best responses…
