It’s an exciting time to be a Liverpool fan, and our resident Reds have spent the last couple of days celebrating. Their side picked up yet another win over the weekend, and things are looking good for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

They’ve been inconsistent over the last couple of years, but they’re undoubtedly a team on the up, and with big players like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the team, anything is possible.

On Wednesday, though, they’re facing their biggest test of the season so far. The return of the Champions League is upon us, and the Reds look good value to progress into the next stage.

FC Porto, though, won’t be an easy side to beat, and Jurgen Klopp will need to be rigid with his team selection. The German has some top players at his disposal, and whilst they managed to secure a solid win over the weekend against Southampton, a different group of players could be needed tonight.

With that said, if Klopp drops these 2 players, Liverpool will beat FC Porto tonight – agreed?

 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a pretty decent tenure at Anfield, but experience could be required in Europe.

The Ox has yet to really cement his place in the heart of the Liverpool first team, but he has been effective from the bench and as more of a rotational option.

James Milner has taken a back seat to the Englishman since his arrival, but that might change tonight. Milner has tonnes of experience, and Klopp could want to make use of that. It would certainly make sense. A trio of Jordan Henderson, Emre Can and James Milner would have bags of high-level experience, and that could be important.

 Andy Robertson

This might be an unpopular choice, but perhaps it’s time for Andy Robertson to take a back seat too.

The Scotsman has looked good this season – much better than anyone could have predicted – but could the Champions League prove to be a step too far for him?

Waiting in the wings is Alberto Moreno. Sure, the Spaniard has had an inconsistent tenure at Anfield, but on his day he remains a top player.

Robertson certainly has a big future at Anfield, but he looked shaky at points over the weekend, and Moreno may be a better option here. After all, it’s now or never for the Spaniard – and he needs to prove himself.
