If Man United don’t win the FA Cup, these 2 players will be to blame

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern today are hoping that the Red Devils can progress to their second FA Cup final in three years and, bring home some silverware to Old Trafford for the third season on the trot.

Jose Mourinho has the United bandwagon well and truly rolling this season, and if it wasn’t for Man City’s incredible season, our regulars can only see United being in full contention to win the League for the first time since Fergie retired. However, after a lacklustre performance in the Champions League recently, the Red Devils are looking to secure their only chance of a trophy this season by getting past Spurs first.

Indeed, our punters have watched United in the big games this season and are hoping for more of a second-half Man City-like performance than a West Brom-like one against a pacey and dangerous Tottenham side.

Jose Mourinho likes to play these type of games quite safe, however, the Red Devils can’t afford to play the long game in this knockout semi-final. Our landlord takes a closer look at what two players Jose Mourinho will lay the blame on if United don’t progress…

Paul Pogba

United fans have seen the best and the worst of Paul Pogba so far this season, and the rocky road he has taken has not been helped by a manager that seems to want to get the best out of him but going about it in the wrong way.

Pogba can change a game like we saw in the second half against Man City, but at the same time, he can go missing in big matches when United and Mourinho need him the most.

Which Pogba will show up – no one knows – but if United lose, then Pogba will surely bear the brunt as per usual.

Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku no doubt has been a success in his first full season at United this term. However, he can be prone to missing guilt-edge chances that can swing a match back into United’s favour.

Lukaku has to be on top of his game in this semi-final against a tough Spurs side, and if he harbours any ambition to win the first trophy with United then he is going to be the one to fire them to it.

Anything less than being ruthless is not going to cut it.
