Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking for their side to build on last week’s dominant performance, as they look to force the issue for a top-four spot. Indeed, while it’s not all been plain sailing this season, the punters propping up our bar were delighted with their performance against Everton. 

After seeing Chelsea stumble in the race for a Champions League spot last weekend, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be keen to gain some ground on the teams above them.

However, if the Lilywhites are to make up the ground on the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, then a near perfect second-half of the season will be needed from Spurs, so the pressure certainly is on for those up Wembley way.

Their next opponents are Mauricio Pellegrino and his suffering Southampton side, a team who are yet to find their first Premier League win of 2018, much to the annoyance of the Saints fans who frequent our venue in their droves.  So, the Saints will be looking to find their feet in-front of their home fans at St Mary’s, in a fixture that’s seen Southampton fail to beat Spurs at home in years.

Nevertheless, with Tottenham heading into the game fresh off a rampant 4-0 win over Everton, momentum will be firmly in the hands of the away side as they look to extend their unbeaten streak to seven-games.

So without further ado, if Mauricio Pochettino opts to start these TWO players in his starting line-up, then Southampton stand no chance.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane enjoyed his best year yet as a professional footballer, after breaking Alan Shearer’s goal-scoring record for goals in a calendar year. While it may be obvious to state he needs to start, these are the sort of games in which it may be tempting to rest the England man.

Still, scoring 20 goals in 22 Premier League appearances just goes to highlight the sheer brilliance that Kane has displayed in-front of goal this season, as he writes his name in the history of English football.

Indeed, it’s been the prolific finishing from the Spurs striker that’s made him unplayable at times, and with four goals already this year he doesn’t look like holding up anytime soon.

Heung Min-Son

The South Korean has been the rising star in this Tottenham side, as his stats continue to play a close second-fiddle to those of superstar Harry Kane’s.

For a player that spent most of his time sat out on the bench during the early parts of the season, his inclusion into the side has seen Spurs reap the rewards of his eight goals and four assists this campaign.

It’s the pace and trickery of the Korean that often causes defences to fall apart, with the final touch being the 25-year-old’s ability to find the net from almost any area of the pitch.

Against a Southampton side that’s flirting with the possibility of relegation, the inclusion of Heung Min-Son would be sure to add to their woes as he looks to build on last week’s goal.
