Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the summer months in order to see if the managerial position will sort itself out finally. Indeed, as always at Stamford Bridge, there’s proving to be a huge grey cloud hanging SW6.

Thomas Tuchel has been recently linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month, with it seeming to be a three-way battle alongside Arsenal and PSG for the German’s commitment. With results not going Antonio Conte’s way after some fairly dismal performances of late, the Italian seems disgruntled with life at Chelsea following two unsuccessful transfer windows which wouldn’t have helped matters.

With a new man in charge, there is the potential of new signings, and our regulars will be hoping that Tuchel will bring in the superstars to make a bid for the Blues’ third title in five years.

Tuchel had a fabulous time at Dortmund, winning the DFB Pokal cup final in his last game in charge, so it’s obvious to see why the local Chelsea boys in the bar are getting a little excited over the recent links. Our landlord has done his usual touting around Europe and scouted TWO players that Tuchel could potentially move for in the summer…

Harry Maguire

With the present club captain Gary Cahill’s age starting to show and the England man certainly not having the best of seasons so far, it could be time to look for a replacement. With that in mind, none come better at present than Leicester City’s Harry Maguire. He is surely destined for a move to a top-six club in the near future and Chelsea would do well to try and beat all competition for his signature.

A powerful, yet consistent centre-half, Maguire is crucially a homegrown talent and would offer Tuchel a long-term solution to his incoming central defensive problems.

Ciro Immobile

Tuchel’s first job will be to give Chelsea more options up front, and at the moment Alvaro Morata is struggling in the English game. On the other hand, Ciro Immobile is having a fantastic season in Serie A for Lazio, averaging a goal a game and looking in red-hot form.

A new man in charge and fresh surroundings could certainly get the most out of the Italian forward and it will surely give Morata extra motivation to up his game. Next year is a big year, as the teams around Chelsea start to get stronger, and the Blues need to keep up or risk falling out of the top six. Conte clearly isn’t content with the options at his disposal, given that he has regularly opted to play with a false nine formation, and so this should speak volumes for Tuchel.
