Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with how well things have been going this summer and will be looking forward to the upcoming season.
Steven Gerrard has given the Light Blues a better chance of making a real challenge to topple Old Firm rivals Celtic from the top of the Scottish Premiership ladder with the number of signings he has made.
Having already completed seven deals already for new additions, and with one expected to be finalised in the coming days, the locals would be forgiven for their optimism ahead of the campaign, however, it appears that one man will not be joining them at Ibrox once again.
The midfielder, who captains the Saints, has just 12-months left in his current deal and it is believed that Rangers were keen on bringing him back, however, those rumours have now been dismissed.
Landlord’s Verdict
Rangers fans in the Tavern would be disappointed that the 33-year-old would not be coming back to Ibrox as he would have been seen by many as their best signing of the summer if it did happen. Despite his age, he would be one of the first names on the team-sheet as he has huge amounts of technical ability and would also be able to be a leader on the pitch, something the Light Blues have needed in the past.
