Inspirational Chelsea Deal Thought To Be Completed Before The Weekend

Kevin de Bruyne

The Belgian Pro League may not be one of the most well-known in Europe, but they must be doing something right as once again Chelsea are set to buy up one of their young talents.

Kevin De Bruyne is set to follow Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois to West London, as Chelsea tie up a £8.5 million deal for the youngster, The Mirror and The Daily Mail have both reported today.

A Genk spokesman told the press, “Dirk Degraen (Chairman) is in London and the expectation is that it will be finished this week”

Chelsea have long held interest in the player, and had previously made a £6 million move in the summer, but were scuppered by Genk’s £12 million asking price. However Genk owner Degraen has agreed to drop the asking price, in return for the player spending the rest of the season back on loan at Genk.

The left-sided player will rejoin Chelsea next season, were he will likely replace Florent Malouda, who looks set to follow other senior players out the door as AVB seeks to rebuild Chelsea in his image.

Gary Cahill, 26, and De Bruyne, 20, may be the start of many young players Chelsea will see arriving under AVB. Anelka, Drogba, and Alex have already found out their fate, but should even the likes of Lampard fear replacement?
