With Rangers likely to still be in the SPL title conversation come January given their current position in the table, manager Steven Gerrard could look to strengthen his squad as he looks to end the dominance of rivals Celtic.
And when it comes to potential signings, one name that refuses to go away is Dominic Solanke, who is way down the pecking order at Liverpool.
Despite that, the 21-year-old is still a player with a lot of goal-scoring potential if his record at youth level is anything to go by, making his possible addition to Rangers one supporters would surely be excited about.
Any potential deal for Solanke that would stretch beyond this season, though, could restrict future opportunities for Zak Rudden, a young and promising centre-forward who could one day save Rangers millions.
Rudden is currently on loan in the Scottish Championship with Falkirk where he has scored four goals in nine league appearances, and his current manager Ray McKinnon believes he has what it takes to make it at his parent club.
Speaking on Rudden last month, McKinnon told the Falkirk Herald: “I do [think Rudden can be a success at Ibrox]. For an 18 year old to have the knack of scoring goals and being in the right place at the right time and as I keep saying his work mate is phenomenal – he is just going to get better and better.
“In the next two or three years he will really improve, be that at Rangers or somewhere else – he can become a top, top player.”
Rudden, a No.9 with a physical presence who is strong at holding up the ball, has a long way to go. But all the signs point towards the Scottish youngster becoming a good SPL centre-forward, one that could be massive for Rangers later down the line.
