According to a tweet from football journalist Fabrizio Romano (via @FabrizioRomano), West Ham are adamant that they will not sell Declan Rice in this transfer window but the player is pushing to join Chelsea.

The Blues have been linked with a potential £80m move for the 21-year-old throughout the summer but, as per Romano, have not yet made an official bid for him and may need to sell or loan players before they can bring him in.
Rice, who has nine caps for England, started every Premier League game for the Irons last season and the first two league matches of the current campaign, winning the club’s Hammer of the Year award for 2019/20 as David Moyes’ team narrowly avoided relegation from the top flight.

Amid a mood of toxic discontent towards the club’s owners from many supporters, the Irons have begun the season with two league defeats and have a daunting set of fixtures coming up, with minimal incoming transfer activity thus far.
These West Ham fans on Twitter reacted glumly to Romano’s update and would not begrudge Rice a move to Chelsea if it goes through in the coming days:

Can’t blame him.

Why would he be loyal to a club owned by a bunch of liars with no ambition when he’s got a club chasing him who actually want to be successful and challenge for major trophies? https://t.co/KOIi6Oozgv
