Is this proof that Leicester City could break the British curse in the Champions League?

The Leicester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern certainly hope so…

Over the last few years, the punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have not been able to work out why British clubs have performed so poorly in the Champions League.

It seems that every single year, 1 or 2 British sides are knocked out in the group stage, whilst those that do progress rarely make it very far.

Of course, there are anomalies – like Chelsea in 2012 or Man City last season – but for the most part, British clubs have struggled.

This has continued into this season, with Tottenham suffering with mixed results thus far – and Man City looking continually unpredictable.

Leicester, on the other hand – have been fantastic. They have been winning and playing well, and Ranieri appears to be focusing all of his efforts on European competition.

In fact, Leicester City’s record has been quite incredible – as this stat by OptaJoe on Twitter suggests.

The Tweet, which can be seen below, suggests that Leicester City are the first side in Champions League history to not concede a goal in their first 4 games in the competition – signalling that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Wow! Leicester were fantastic last season, but they have dropped off somewhat in the league this year. Their Champions League form thus far, though, has been absolutely incredible.

The Leicester City fans in the Tavern are hoping that they can go all the way – whilst our landlord is backing them to surprise a few people this season.
