The Leicester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern sure hope not…
Last season, no player in the Premier League was better than Riyad Mahrez. The Leicester attacking midfielder was a core member of the Foxes’ Premier League winning side, and according to the punters in the Tavern, he was easily the signing of the season.
However, this year – something has changed. Mahrez is looking nowhere near as deadly, and without his potency – Leicester City have struggled.
This has led to some of the punters in the Tavern touting him as a ‘one season wonder’ – and that statement is starting to ring true, as this stat suggests.
As per OptaJoe on Twitter, Mahrez has scored just 2 goals alongside 0 assists in 1350 minutes of Premier League action – indicating that the midfielder is a shadow of his former self this season.

These stats make for particularly hard reading if you’re a Leicester City fan. Last season, Mahrez bagged 17 goals alongside 11 assists – an absolutely incredible record. But for some reason, it just isn’t happening this year.
The Leicester City fans think that without him, the Foxes could be set for a mid-table scrap this season.
